With Artificial Intelligence: My First Experience in Generating Food Images and Names

At the beginning of 2023, I stepped into the world of AI-generated creativity — and the first thing that truly caught my attention was food! What began as a casual exploration quickly turned into a fun and flavorful experiment. I was curious: How would Artificial Intelligence visualize dishes based on innovative recipe names?

I started by browsing through various websites, collecting quirky and imaginative Indian fusion dish names — combinations that blended traditional flavors with global twists. Once I had my list, I used Picsart, the only tool I worked with, to bring these ideas to life visually.

The result? A surprising and delightful collection of images that merged cultures, colors, textures, and creativity. Some dishes looked deliciously realistic, while others made me laugh in disbelief — but every single one sparked curiosity and inspiration.

Here are the dishes I chose to visualize:

  • Gulab Jamun Cheesecake

  • Tandoori Paneer Taco

  • Curry Leaves Pasta

  • Mango Bruschetta

  • Indian Momo

  • Saffron Sushi

  • Coconut Risotto

  • Makhani Sauce Pizza

  • Chicken Sukka Omelette

What amazed me the most was that AI didn’t just stop at visuals — it also sparked unique, mouthwatering recipe ideas that felt both futuristic and familiar. Shall we see them one by one ?

1. Gulab Jamun Cheesecake

Description:
A soft, creamy cheesecake layered with golden gulab jamuns. The image captures the fusion beautifully — round syrup-soaked dumplings embedded into smooth vanilla cheesecake, garnished with pistachio crumbs and rose petals.

Key Ingredients:

  • Gulab Jamuns

  • Cream Cheese

  • Cardamom Syrup

2. Tandoori Paneer Taco

Description:
A vibrant Indian-Mexican fusion where smoky tandoori-paneer cubes rest in soft taco shells. The image bursts with spice and color — bright red paneer, purple cabbage slaw, and a drizzle of mint chutney on top.

Key Ingredients:

  • Tandoori Paneer

  • Taco Shells

  • Mint Yogurt Dressing

3. Curry Leaves Pasta

Description:
A comforting bowl of creamy pasta with a South Indian twist. The AI image shows spaghetti tossed in a pale coconut sauce, topped with crackled mustard seeds and crispy curry leaves.

Key Ingredients:

  • Curry Leaves

  • Coconut Milk

  • Mustard Seeds

4. Mango Bruschetta

Description:
Fresh, summery, and bold — this fusion bruschetta is topped with diced ripe mangoes, chili flakes, and basil on toasted baguette slices. The image shines with golden-orange tones and fresh herbs.

Key Ingredients:

  • Ripe Mangoes

  • Crusty Baguette

  • Red Chili Flakes

5. Indian Momo

Description:
A visual feast of steamed momos filled with spicy vegetables. The AI version shows them neatly folded with soft, glistening skins, served alongside a bright orange sesame-chili dip.

Key Ingredients:

  • Dumpling Dough

  • Spiced Veggie Filling

  • Sesame-Chili Sauce

6. Saffron Sushi

Description:
A luxurious twist to sushi — these rolls have a golden tint, thanks to saffron-infused rice. AI displays beautifully wrapped rolls with mango and cucumber, finished with saffron threads on top.

Key Ingredients:

  • Saffron Rice

  • Mango Slices

  • Nori Seaweed

7. Coconut Risotto

Description:
A creamy plate of risotto, made with rich coconut milk instead of cheese. The image shows white rice with bits of tender mushrooms, curry leaves, and toasted coconut on top.

Key Ingredients:

  • Arborio Rice

  • Coconut Milk

  • Mushrooms

8. Makhani Sauce Pizza

Description:
An indulgent Indian-Italian hybrid! This pizza has a base of creamy makhani sauce instead of tomato, topped with paneer cubes, onions, and a swirl of cream. AI makes it look mouthwatering and messy — in the best way.

Key Ingredients:

  • Makhani Gravy

  • Paneer

  • Mozzarella Cheese

oday, while clearing up some of my old drafts, I stumbled upon this project — and all the memories came rushing back. This was my very first step into the world of AI-generated visuals, and food was my chosen playground.

Since then, I’ve learned so much more. From experimenting with just one tool — Picsart — I’ve now explored and used at least 25 different image generators, each offering its own creative magic. But still… this first project holds a special place in my heart. There's something nostalgic about it — a raw, curious beginning that sparked my journey into AI creativity.

So I decided to finally publish it here. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s real. A reminder of where it all started. And maybe, just maybe, someone else starting out today will feel inspired to take that first creative step too.
